Welcome to the second golden age of Pulp. At the Astounding Outpost we will publish a mixture of new stories and pulp classics and reader submisssions. As well as sponser regular writing contests. Our goal is to publish regular and themed anthologies. Any work submited will be considered for publication for 6 months if published we would like exclusive rights for a year as well as the right to republish in future themed anthologies.
Writing contest and anthology
We plan to publish regular and themed antholigies. The regular anthologies will be published at least on a quartlery basis and will consist of a mixture of reader submitted material, Outpost Originals, and Pulp Classics. User submitted material will be automatically entered in a writing contest which have three winners.

Submission Guidelines
The Outpost wants to focus on human writing, so we will accept AI assisted writing but not AI generated writing. Our regular periodical is an open call, however we prefer things that will fit the curent calls. A call will be open until we get enough stories to publish a themed anthology we are shooting for around 350 pages worth of new and classic material.
Here are some classic pulp genres
- Science Fiction (classic, retro-future, military, weird science, cosmic)
- Fantasy (mythic, fairy-tale, sword & sorcery, dark fantasy)
- Horror (supernatural, folk horror, gothic, cosmic/eldritch, creature features)
- Weird Tales (genre-blenders, uncanny stories, “this shouldn’t exist but it does” fiction)
- Mystery (detectives, noir, occult investigation, strange cases)
- Adventure (high-stakes action, exploration, lost worlds, daring rescues, survival)
- Western (classic Western, Weird West, frontier horror, steampunk West, supernatural West)
Current calls
- Weird West- We are looking for sci-fi, Steam Punk , super natural, and fantsy tales set in the Old West.
- Shamrock , Thisle and Red Dragon- Its March so in honor of Saint Patrick’s Day we are collecting stories based on Cletic myth and folklore. Banshee, Leprachan,
- Midnight Blood- Vampire stories
