Friday Night Freak Show :Captain Video and his Video Rangers

Captain Video rand from 1949 – 1955 on the DuMont TV network from 1949 – 1955. It was the first science fiction show to run on TV.  It aired daily at 7:00pm. Few episodes are extant since most were destroyed after the original broadcast. Despite being  popular among a wide demographic the show was hampered by a low budget and the show’s running time was cut. The prop budget was as low as $25 (between $261 and $861 in today’s money depending on who is doing the calculation). The show was mentioned on the first episode of The Honey Mooners

The Honeymooners : Lost Episodes 1951-1957 (The Complete Restored Series)
