Celebrate Boris Karloff’s 130th Birthday

One hundred and thirty years ago today, Boris Karloff entered the world. Born William Pratt, he gave himself the stage name Boris Karloff while performing in Canada. A little over a decade later, his starring role in Frankenstein ignited his career and helped him become an icon of horror movies. His career, which spans over five decades and includes over a hundred movies, and numerous radio and  TV  shows earned him two stars on the Hollywood walk of fame.

While most people know him for his roles in horror, he helped create one of the best Christmas movies of all time. He starred in the original 1966 version of Dr. Seuss’s How the Grinch Stole Christmas.

His career has also had an effect on music, most obviously the song Monster Mash was a tribute, but also a blues band called Earth  consisting of 4 horror fans were inspired by a Boris Karloff anthology movie for their name and lyrics. They became…
