With the zombie call in full swing we thought we’d launch Astounding Radio with a discussion of George Romero and Zombies. While missed by many film circles Romero’s work was ground breaking and shaped the future of film making,, story telling, and of course the modern obsession with zombies. Dawn of the Dead is an underrated master piece, and Martin is disturbing beyond words. If you haven’t seen his films, or still need to see some of them we’ve gathered them altogether Here.
The Guardian ran a very interesting editorial asking if horror was dead?
I’m of two minds. Our world is so ripe with things that should scare the hell out of us, even more if you watch Fox news. So there should be lots of good horror oozing its way up from the collective unconscious.
The turmoil, the angst, the uncertainty, should be ripe for the picking, but where’s our Shelly or Lovecraft to tune into its frequency?
Maybe we’re so numb to horror all we can do is watch zombie porn. What do you think?
